Abstract: Nowadays, communication networking has fast progress and ad-hoc and sensor networking is a hottest area in networking technology. One of the fields in sensor networks is underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) that are applicable in undersea usages and since 2000; UWSNs have many researches and developments. In this type of networks, routing is a main challenge and complexity of routing causes to offer the heuristic solutions for it. One of the very important routing protocols is vector-based forwarding (VBF) that we are going to review it in this article and in addition, we will discuss some of its developments. Finally, we will do performance comparison and qualitative analysis for these routing protocols.
